Spoiler alert! If you haven’t seen The Wedding Singer starring Adam Sandler (Robby) and Drew Barrymore (Julia), you may want to watch it before enjoying this clip. Set in the ’80’s, it’s funny, romantic, and will bring back fond memories (can you say Billy Idol?) for those who came of age watching MTV.
‘Grow Old With You’ is a particularly charming song from the movie as it’s Robbie’s endearing response to a conversation he and Julia have earlier in the film:
Robbie: How did you know that Glenn was the right one?
Julia: The right one? I always just envisioned the right one being someone I could see myself growing old with.
Julia: And… Glenn would be a really good-looking older man. Like Blake Carrington.
Robbie: I’m gonna probably look like Buddy Hackett.
The Wedding Singer spawned a Broadway musical (usually it’s the other way around) and was the first of the Sandler/Barrymore romantic comedies, which includes 50 First Dates and Blended. From the music… to the fashions… to the hairstyles (can you say Flock of Seagulls?) this movie has lots of nostalgia, and plenty of heart. Plus, a rapping granny way ahead of her time! – MovieSongs
